Georg Cremer was born in Aachen in 1952. He was the secretary general and chairman of the branch social and specific politics of the German Caritas Association from 2000 to 2017. Cremer studies economics and education in Freiburg. After he had received his doctorate degree, Cremer worked for a development organization in Indonesia. Afterwards, he worked for Caritas in an international context, for the aid organization of the German Caritas Association and took over the responsibility for disaster aid in Asia and for social programs in Eastern Europe. Cremer is a habilitated economist and gives lectures as an extracurricular professor at the University of Freiburg.
