The Alliance for the Social Market Economy is honored to award the Alfred Müller-Armack Medal of Merit to
Dr. Franz Schoser as an appreciation for his commitment to keep the ideas of the Social Market Economy vivid and to reestablish their meaning for the future of our society.

Awardee Dr. Franz Schoser
Dr. Franz Schoser studied economics in Tübingen, Vienna and Cologne from 1952 to 1959. He received his doctorate degree by Alfred Müller-Armack in 1959. From 1957 to 1973, Schoser worked for the Industrie- und Handelskammer Köln. Moreover, he was a member of the committee Deutsche Industrie- und Handelskammer from 1973 to 2001 and its managing director from 1980 on. He also held the positions as chairman of the booster club of the institute for economic policy at the University of Cologne and ad chairman of the board of the Otto Wolff Foundation. Schoser was also treasurer of the Konrad-Adenauer Foundation and of the Institute for European Politics. In addition, he was the chairman of the SES Senioren Experten Service Foundation. He was also the president of the Society of Transnational (German-French) Cooperation and the chairman of the Gustav-Stesemann-Institut. From 2006 to 2011, Schoser was a member of the National Regulatory Control Council.
Laudator Bundespräsident a.D. Professor Dr. Horst Köhler Professor Dr. Horst Köhler was the Federal President of the Federal Republic of Germany from 2004 to 2010. Additionally, he was the managing director of the International Monetary Fund from 2000 to 2004. He was appointed member of the High Level Panel of Eminent Persons on the Post-2015 Development Agenda by the secretary general of the United Nations in 2012.
Keynote speaker Professor Dr. Andreas Rödder
Professor Dr. Andreas Rödder studied history and German studies in Bonn, Tübingen and Stuttgart from 1986 to 1991. He received his doctorate degree in 1994 and habilitated in 2001. Afterwards, he was professor at the historic institute of the University of Stuttgart from 2001 to 2005. In April 2005, Rödder was appointed professor of recent history at the Johannes-Gutenberg-University Mainz. In the academic period 2012/2013 he held the position as the Gerda-Henkel guest lecturer at the London School of Economics and Political Science and at the German Historic Institute in London.
